When she was twenty-two years old, Margaret Carter underwent an experimental procedure to turn her into the world's first super soldier. She was the only recipient of the serum. Carter was ordered to work as a propaganda tool for some time, before convincing Howard Stark to fly with her to rescue a group of American soldiers who had fallen behind enemy lines.
Thus began the career of Captain America. She learned how to fake a perfect American Accent.
Less than a year later, Peggy nosedived a plane carrying a deadly bomb somewhere in the northern Atlantic ocean, saving the country she'd just learned to call a home. She slept for a long, long time, and found herself in the twenty-first century.
This is what happens next.
